Escalator Step Roller Installation Instructions

1. Pre-Installation Safety & Preparation
2. Cut off the escalator main power supply and hang a safety warning sign to avoid accidental startup.
3. Prepare matched step rollers, shaft pins, circlips, spanner and protective gloves.
4. Check new rollers for cracks, PU peeling or bearing jamming; verify model compatibility with your escalator.
5. Clean the step chain mounting holes to clear dust, rust and metal debris.
6. Remove Worn Old Rollers
7. Lift the target step to an accessible maintenance position.
8. Remove the circlip at the end of the roller shaft, then push out the shaft pin.
9. Take off the old roller; inspect the step chain hole for deformation or abrasion.
10. Replace damaged chain links if the mounting hole is severely worn.
11. Install New Step Roller
12. Put the new roller into the mounting hole of the step chain.
13. Align the shaft pin and pass it through the roller and chain hole completely.
14. Install the circlip into the shaft groove to lock the shaft pin firmly and prevent falling off.
15. Turn the roller by hand to confirm it rotates flexibly without stuck or shaking.
16. Inspection & Test Run
17. Manually rotate the escalator drive wheel to circulate steps for a full cycle.
18. Check each roller against the guide rail: no collision, offset or abnormal friction noise.
19. Refit all escalator covers after full inspection.
20. Switch on power and run the escalator with no load for 10 minutes, recheck roller running status.
21. Important Safety Notes
22. Installation must only be completed by certified escalator maintenance staff.
23. Power cut-off is mandatory before all disassembly and assembly work.
24. Do not install deformed, cracked or mismatched rollers.
25. Stop operation immediately if abnormal noise, jamming or step deviation appears during testing.
